Holiday Calories Effect on the Body, Poem

My high school classmate. Barb Young, is back with a poem we can all relate with, “How to deal with the Holiday Calorie’s effect on our bodies.” A fun poem we can enjoy with a smile.

CALORIES
by barb wiatrak young

How can 1 pound of candy
Add ten pounds to your weight,
Or a simple piece of pie
Lead to a “worser” fate.

Why does cherry cobbler
Make your pants bulge at the seams,
Or watching all too close your scale
Cause sad starvation dreams.

Another question that I have
Is why aren't carbs the fad,
Carbs make me so happy..
Why are they so bad..

So what if salads make you thin
And candy makes you fat,
It’s oh so wrong I tell you
I never have liked that..

Why can't we gorge on chocolate
Have whipping cream a lot,
Why can’t chicken and dumplings
Be in every single pot..

These questions really haunt me
I guess I won’t know why..
Cause I'm too busy eating
Ice cream and apple pie..

Thought you could relate to and get an after holiday kick out of her thoughts. It's OK, I give permission to enjoy you after dinner desert. You can work it off later.

Love to hear your personal comments on this subject.

See you soon. Stay Close.

Have laughter, ease, grace and joy in your day.

Fireworks Continue in 2017

In 2016 now 2017, both years started with December's activity

spilling over into January. This past December I was invited to enter

2 images for  the "Black and White" Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery show.

Dave Banks, Photographer, Writer, Artist, Documentary Filmmaker and Photojournalist, was the show "Guest Juror."

Dave's photography is exhibited nationally and internationally.

Banks was uniquely qualified to jury this show with 30

years of the international documentary, news and reality program experience, with 13 Emmy Award nominations,

3 Emmys, 2 Internationals Monitor Awards and one

Addy Award for writing.

Mr. Banks awarded my "Spirit, Bald Eagle" (16 x 20 Oil

Pastel Painting on mat board) Honorable Mention.

This, being the first time to enter a Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery Show,

was a rewarding experience from a jurior with Banks reputation.

Mary Dove "Spirit, Bald Eagle" Black and White Edition

The 2nd entry was a 16 x 12 Pencil Drawing on illustration board. The original drawing is 24 x 20" framed.

Mary Dove "Charging Elephant" Original Pencil Drawing

Personally, I enjoy the designed use of negative space in

this drawing. The use of negative space is a hallmark signature

of my black and white images.

How do you feel about a drawing that seems to be unfinished?

This is what I call "negative space." Love to hear your thoughts.
I find it a challenge to make "negative space work in a drawing.

The "Black and White" show will be available for viewing

through January 15, 2017 via the following link:

During the past few years, my focus was to create worldwide
exposure for Mary Dove Art. This is being accomplished.
Here are a few of my efforts:

Xanadu Gallery (Mary Dove's Website)
Mary Dove Art website (Fine Art Studio Online)
My Fine Art Print website (Fine Art America)

And, most recently Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery (See Link Above)
to name a few opportunity with more planned on the horizon.

With that said, last update: just received a call from the
Northern Arizona Watercolor Society (NAWS) sharing that
my award-winning 22x30 watercolor, "New Mexico
Shifting White Sands Grass" is selected to be used in the 2017 Spring Members Juried Show Marketing Plan.

One thing you can bank on is the fact one never knows where or when the next potential opportunity will appear or come from. Maybe it's just a phone call away.

Wishing you that ALL your 2017 dreams and potentials manifest for the Highest and Best Good in this New Year.

See you soon. Stay Close.

Have laughter, ease, grace and joy in your day.

A Thanksgiving Wish To All and Update

Mr. Country Strutter, 21 x 24 watercolor

Mr. Country Strutter and Mary Dove Art wish you a gracious, joyous Thanksgiving Day filled with laughter, fun, family and good friends. A time of gratitude for the many potentials and blessings received during this past year. As we move forward into next year, our hearts embrace the diversification of the patchwork quilt of humanity which enriched our lives bring new adventures to our daily experiences. Life is good. All is good with all of creation. Have a Happy Turkey Day.

New Mexico Shifting White Sands Grass, 30 x 38 watercolor

It's been an exceptional year for this Watercolor Painting having 1st won an Award of Excellence in a Juried Show and this fall, from that show, also received the People's and Member's Choice Awards. These 2 awards mean the most to me coming from the voice of the Public and Fellow artists. Jan Saunders is the Reference Photographer for this 30 x 38 watercolor.

Blue Domes of Santorini Greek Island, 38 x 30 watercolor

A 22 x 30" (original watercolor size) as a Fine Art America Fine Art Print on watercolor paper was sent to a collector in Tomah,WI.

La Posada Hollyhock Garden Winslow AZ, 29 x 22 watercolor

Paula Potter was the reference photographer for this historical hotel in Winslow Arizona. I'm pleased this original watercolor found a new home with a Fort Lauderdale FL collector this fall.

Santa Fe Sunlit Patio, 30 x 38 watercolor

This original watercolor is also located on the east coat with a Fayetteville, NC collector.

A framed 22 x 30, Fine Art America Fine Art Paint on stretched canvas, found it's way to Madison, WI to warm the hearts of a collector during the cold winter months. (Because of my self-taught watercolor technique, the watercolors look fabulous as a Fine Art Canvas Print.) The Southwest can capture one's attention if they've traveled this area during the summer. However, in the winter Santa Fe can be as cold as Wisconsin.

It is such a pleasure to share my stories and passion to create the magic which speaks to my collectors and followers.

Enjoy the diversification of my painting subject matter. If the subject does not speak to me, it will not find its way to the watercolor paper or canvas. Wish for you to feel the magic.

One more thing, it was a fortunate opportunity to be selected as a Featured Artist on Artsy Shark this fall. 9 images were presented which made for a nice presentation of both watercolor and oil paintings. Here is the link for your convenience:

Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season!

More catch-up to follow. Stay Close.
