Snow in Sedona, Village of Oak Creek (VOC)

We've had two show days in Sedona. With that said, I wanted to share our Red Rocks dressed in snow along with my back and front yard snow scenes. The most snow we’ve seen at one time during our 8 winters living in VOC.

Front Yard

Believe, there are red rocks behind the roof across the street.

Red Rocks Dressed in Show

These are the red rocks from my studio window. Tough life visually.

VOC is at 4500' the red rock you are seeing would be, give or take, about 6,000'

Pick-up Trip to Phoenix

It is time to start picking up painting in Phoenix from the last November’s juried shows deliveries. This trip was for Arizona Artists Guild (AAG), juried show for AAG juried member at Beatitudes Campus, Glendale Arizona to celebrate Arizona’s centennial. It’s like having your kids come home on spring break. My painting are easy to live with and are missed when off to a gallery, a show or shared with a collector.

"Peoples Choice Award"

One award was given at the show which was a “People’s Choice Award. For me this award is more important than “Best of Show,” even though I’ll take a Best of Show any day of the week. Best of Show is the opinion of one juror; with People’s Choice awards a whole bunch of people have to like the art during the period of time it is hanging in the show.

This one of my favorite paintings; each morning I woke to this native high desert flowering plant. It kept bugging me until I committed to paint their portrait. They were happy and I was pleased with the results. Hope you also enjoy this watercolor.

I’m fortunate to have a wonder friend and neighbor, Paula Potter, a photographer who just loves to travel and share her adventures with me. The blue door first caught my attention and then you are able to move into and visit this notable hollyhock garden at the historical La Posada Hotel in Winslow Arizona. The color of and shadows on the blue door were my challenge for this watercolor. Enjoy your travels.

Young Desert Ram Winner at SAC

"Young Desert Ram" oil pastel painging

Sedona Art Center had their reception and awards presentation Friday evening. This young Ram came away with his award. As a member of SAC, for the past five years, the experience has been humbling. Each year an oil pastel animal painting has been entered and each has come away with an award. There is one more painting, in my head to get out on mat board, for next year’s entry.  After 2013, more than likely I will be growing in a new direction. Enjoy my little boy.
