All are welcome!

Here are my two entries:

Santa Fe Cása, is a wonderful example of early New Mexico architecture. As the artist, the structure can be taken back in time by removing all of modern technology from the roof yet saving the character of the aged wooden gates and landscape. Enjoy this watercolor; imagine the many stories this Santa Fe Cása has seen and can tell to those who pay attention.

As part of my quest to capture the vanishing landscape, during one of my back road trips through Texas, I stumbled on this old fence post and barn structure. The focus of this composition was the fence post and the way it appeared in front of the barn which creates a since of distance. I enjoyed the old barn and foreground flowers back lit by the sun.

A poem to share from Barb Wiatrak Young.

Just a reminder Barb and I went to high school together. To give you a setting for this poem, she currently lives in Utah. These are thoughts we can ponder to move us into a higher peaceful state of mind. Please share her words with friends and family. Escape into her dream. Enjoy.

VERMILLION DREAMS
by barb wiatrak young

The vermillion buttes surround me
With their little tufts of green
The silent sentry rocks
Lay colored and serene.

Lazy billows drift oer head
With shadow and with shade
Where the cactus verdant green
A flower bed have made.

This is a world removed
From the bustle and the world,
Here peace flows like a river
And the sounds of quiet unfurled.

A rosy sunset paints the sky
Where God has placed his hand
Like Eden for a moment view
Surrounds this craggy land.

The colors of the rocky cliffs
Hold secrets deep and old
And winds that blow at night
Know stories yet untold...

Secrets of the dreamers
Who tamed as best they could
The wildness and the beauty
With promises of good.

Pioneers who had the dreams
And walked this rocky space
Woke from dreams to conquer
And to build this lovely place.

As vermillion dreams surround you
And the sky is cian blue
Let the shelter of the mountains
Give you a clearer view.

A view of love and beauty
Of the dreams you've yet to own
To hold them and to make them real
Before each one has flown.

For the Master’s brush is ready
To paint each dream for you
You have but to hold them
And make them all come true.

Enjoy your last days of Summer!

Red and Yellow Tomatoes, interesting subject

Remember that summer luncheon salad with red and yellow tomatoes fresh from nature’s garden bounty? This summer time memory, which occurs about this time of year, was the motivation for Red and Yellow Tomatoes watercolor painting.

Yes, I’m back and wanted to share this refreshing memory with you this evening. My intent with this watercolor was to work with and enjoy the bright colors tomatoes provide for our taste buds and visual delight. The challenge for this painting was the bright happy colors of the tomatoes; in vivid contrast with the very deep blue background; deal with the wood table surface bleached out by the strong midday window sunlight.

This watercolor is easy to live with demanding to be hung and enjoyed in the kitchen.

In the past, I've shared with you links to the BoldBrushCompetition. Red and Yellow Tomatoes was my July entry showing up as #2 on the third line. Usually there are about 800 plus entries per month for you to explore.
